My journey as an international educator began when was 18 years old and accepted a contract to teach a young German girl. My experience in Germany instilled a passion for languages, travel and teaching. I returned to Canada to complete my Bachelors in English Literature and began a career in the Film and Television Industry. During this time, I also instructed a poetry program for adults with schizophrenia and taught two semesters at the ESL Learning Institute in Doha, Qatar. In 2005, I decided to pursue a career in teaching English language learners, so I completed my TESOL certification and accepted a position in Taiwan. In 2008, I returned to Canada to begin my Masters in Integrated Studies and instruct English language classes at North West Regional College.
My husband and I have taken a GAP year to travel; currently we are in South Asia, but I would like to secure a teaching position for the fall 2010 term. I am confident my professional experience makes me a good candidate for an ESL position. I will ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn by planning appropriate and constructive lessons in a supportive and enjoyable learning environment.
